Arabic is the official language, however, English is widely understood and spoken. The event’s printed materials will include both languages, plus other translation services can be provided.
The official currency used is the UAE dirham (Dh), and although tipping is not expected, it is a common practice to do so. Dubai operates on Gulf Standard Time (GST), which is GMT +4.
Dubai is tolerant and cosmopolitan, however, Islam is a way of life in the city. Therefore, tourists should adopt a certain level of cultural and religious sensitivity. Conservative dress is encouraged.
Normal three-pin 134 amp British-style plugs are used, operating on 220/240 volts. Although adapters are usually in hotels, you may want to purchase one before you arrive.
The line of the Tropic of Cancer crosses through the UAE, causing the weather in Dubai to be hot and sunny. Near coastal areas humidity can average between 50% and 60%.
Airports, docks, telecommunication equipment, government buildings, military and industrial installations should not be photographed. Please observe the “no photography” signs.

The UAE has a very strict, zero-tolerance anti-drugs policy and conducts thorough searches.. You cannot purchase alcohol from a supermarket. It is against the law to walk in the street drinking alcohol or to be intoxicated in a public place.
