Mais Abbas Abousy is an Attorney-Advisor with the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) in the Office of the General Counsel of the U.S. Department of Commerce.  Ms. Abousy works to support US market entry to post-conflict markets in the Middle East and North Africa through working with government and industry to improve the business legal environment. Her primary focus is on franchising, energy, public procurement, PPPs, ADR, and IP in Iraq, Jordan, West Bank, and GCC.
 
Abousy works with US Diplomatic Missions to the region, alongside the International Franchise Association, and foreign governments to support the development of a prosperous franchise sector.  Her efforts included leading multiple business and government missions, providing customized consultative services, and supporting strategic legal reforms in underdeveloped franchise markets.  Throughout the years, Abousy has gained expertise in supporting franchises develop market entry strategies customized to the local economic and legal realities of post-conflict economies.  Additionally, Abousy manages programs that train and advise investors to advance their respective franchise profile and qualify as a prospective franchisee.
